Assessing every Leigh Leopards badge Derek Beaumont has shared so far

It’s been less than a week since Derek Beaumont made the bold decision to rename his beloved Leigh Centurions the Leigh Leopards.
A bold decision that was more than divided, but Beaumont must be commended for the way he used it as a springboard into the headlines and across all social media.
Beaumont has contributed to this by sharing different views of the Leigh Leopards logo on an almost daily basis, which has sparked debate around the internet.
So we rate every iteration of the Leigh Leopards logo we’ve seen.
1.Original:
This first logo is the original released at launch. The solid shape of the logo is a great look for any sports institute and the focus on the name at the top is brilliant. It’s the Leopard himself that many were unimpressed by, but that’s the club’s identity now. The eyes are a nice touch, keeping up the red at the heart of the club, but they could be livelier, as could the overall look of the badge. Verdict: 6/10

The first, shared by Beaumont on his personal account, addressed this vibrancy issue, which caused the leopard’s underside to turn red. Meanwhile, the club’s name is in red, adding some much-needed color to the look. Verdict: 7/10

The third iteration took a step backwards. It removed the red fading from the top and lettering but kept it on the bottom. It just takes a little color off the look. Verdict: 6/10

There’s something really artistic about it. A cream colored background, red leopard and no border. As for why I love the colourfulness of this look, it’s perhaps a logo that doesn’t go best with a jersey, but more with the more professional side of the club. Verdict: 7/10

The latest look is very retro with a red border providing the background for the club’s name, presented in white letters in a font reminiscent of 90’s logos. The same leopard in black with red eyes. In terms of use of colour, perhaps a modernized version of this particular iteration would be the best look, Verdict: 7/10
