Area high school basketball roundup for Dec. 30: Parkston girls stay perfect, knock off Centerville – Mitchell Republic

PARKSTON — A quick start sent Parkston to 24 points in the first quarter and set the table for a 71-46 win over Class B No. 4 Centerville at Friday night’s Parkston Classic in girls’ basketball action.
The Trojans led 24:13 after the first quarter, 38:23 at halftime and 55:37 after three frames. Gracie Oakley had 24 points and Faith Oakley had 14 points for Parkston. Keeara Oakley had six points and nine rebounds for the Trojans.
The Tornados’ Lillie Eide, Thea Gust, MaKayla Heesch and Mackenzie Meyer all scored seven points, with six rebounds from Eide.
Parkston (4-0) plays at Hanson on Jan. 3 while Centerville (4-1) visits Marty on Jan. 3.
The same two teams met on the boys’ side of the event, with Parkston winning 59-48. No statistics were reported.

- coral mason hit a career 1,000 point mark at Friday’s Parkston Classic, leading the No. 1 Cougars to a win and taking them 4-1 with a 74-36 win over Wall. Mason had 29 points, 11 rebounds, four Assists and three steals. Estelle Lee Added 10 points and Charles Nelson had six points and seven assists.
- Ashlyn Koupal scored 24 points and Emma Jost added 21 points for Class A No. 2 Wagner as the Red Raiders defeated Avon 68-32. McKenna Kocmich had 12 points for the Pirates and Courtney sees scored 10
- Sioux Valley scored double digits in a 54-32 win over Corsica-Stickney led by four players at the Pentagon Classic Landree Wilsons 14 points. Ashlyn Lefers and Braylee Bordewyk each had six points for the Jaguars. Outstanding Seniors Avery Broughton she returned to the court for the Jaguars after suffering a knee injury, playing 19 minutes and recording six points and seven rebounds.
- Jayda Handel had a game-high 19 points and eight rebounds for Chamberlain, but Sisseton won 57-28 at the Pentagon. Hannah Leverson had 15 points for Sisseton.
- Dakota Valley defeated Wessington Springs, 68-57, at the Parkston Classic, with Jorja Van Den Hul scored 14 points to lead four in double figures for the Panthers. Melina Snoozy had 12, and Emerson Met and Cameron Sommervold Everyone had 11 points. Avery Orth scored a double-double for the Spartans with 18 points and 11 rebounds Alyssa Grohs scored 13 points.
- In a replay of last year’s Class A title game, Hamlin defeated St. Thomas More 39-34 at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls. Kami Wadsworth scored 15 points for the chargers and Addison Neuendorf scored 10 points while ReeseRoss scored 17 points for STM.
- Bon Homme had four double-digit goalscorers to go 3-1 up in a 46-38 win over Scotland in Tyndall on Friday. Yurni Vavruska had 15 points while Jaden Kortan, Taycee Ranek and Erin Heusinkveld each scored 10. Clair Janisch had 11 points for the Highlanders.
- Ty Morrison had 15 points as one of four McCook Central/Montrose players in double digits in a 58-35 win over Corsica-Stickney at the Parkston Classic. Morrison had nine rebounds Mason saber and Owen alley each scored 12 and Boston cat scored 11 for MCM, who are now 4-1, and finished the game with a 27-4 in the third quarter. Ty Hosman and Shad Bosma Everyone scored nine for the Jaguars.
- Jeff Boschee was 11-for-19 shooting and scored 23 points to send Sanborn Central/Woonsocket past Langford Area in Huron 53-44. Evan Easton scored nine points for the Blackhawks, who improved to 3-1. The lions got 16 points and eight rebounds Jesse Keough.
- Gerber Dyk scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds on 7-for-13 shooting for Platte-Geddes in a 58-29 win over Sisseton at the Pentagon. Parker Bailey scored nine for the Black Panthers, who forced 17 turnovers.
- A triple double out Randy Rosenquist – 12 points, 11 rebounds and 16 assists – led Dakota Valley in a 90-54 win over Chamberlain in Parkston. Isaac Bruns had 27 points and 10 rebounds, Jaxon Wingert had 25 points and Jaxon Hennies had 20 points for the Panthers. Dakota Munger scored 20 points for the Cubs and Kenyon McCloskey had 18
- Ryan Krog scored 28 points to lead Elkton-Lake Benton to a 68-51 win at the Huron Holiday Classic. Tanner Dreitz had 12 points for the Moose, who had a 41-27 rebound advantage. Cooper long scored 17 points for Lyman in a losing effort, with Ryker Choal add 15
- Lower Brule earned a win over Howard at the Huron Holiday Classic, 75-56, powered by a 65.2% shooting night. Brian LaRoche Jr. had 22 points and seven rebounds and Gavin thighs scored 17 points for the Sioux Kolt Koepsell had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Tigers.
- Landon Wallman scored 18 points and Isaac Korell had 16 points as James Valley blitzed Christian Burke for a 69-33 win at the Huron Holiday Classic. JVC beat the Cougars 35-8 in the second quarter to control the game. Nick Nelson had 11 points for Burke.
- Clark/Willow Lake made 13 3-pointers on Friday to defeat Wessington Springs in Huron 68-35. Trey Huber led by 14 points for CWL. Colby flowers had 11 points off the bench for Wessington Springs.
- Caleb Hollenbeck scored 30 points on 10-for-16 shooting with five 3-point shots for St. Thomas More in a 56-46 win over Aberdeen Central at Sioux Falls. SpencerBarr scored 17 points for Aberdeen Central.
