Obituary for Wanda Elaine Kemp

Wanda Elaine Kemp (née Dorman), beloved wife of John Eldon Kemp of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday December 19, 2022 at the age of 68.
Wanda was born on November 21, 1954 in Sooke, BC. She moved to Calgary, AB in 1977. She met and married Eldon Kemp on November 13, 1981 and recently celebrated her 41st anniversary this year. Wanda worked many jobs from a waitress to a bank teller. With her banking experience, Wanda loved balancing every job down to the last penny! During the ’90s, she worked as a temp at downtown oil companies and other businesses such as Mark’s Work Wearhouse.
She was a member of the Deer Run Community Association and before that Block Watch for over twenty-five years. She organized the Fall community’s annual Free Garbage Pickup Day for eleven years. Wanda oversaw getting grants from all levels of government to improve the Deer Run community. She has volunteered with Casino Days for years to get the community funds. Wanda has achieved a lot in her life and was particularly proud of these moments and achievements.
Wanda and Eldon traveled to many parts of the world throughout their married life, particularly enjoying Europe. Wanda’s most memorable holiday was when she and Eldon went to southern Spain and loved it so much they returned three times! Wanda’s favorite singers were Elton John and Rod Stewart; She loved music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.
Wanda will be remembered most for her kindness to people. She adapted well to meeting people and treated everyone like a friend. Wanda was a gentle sole who tried to find the good in all people and will be remembered by all who knew her as a person to relate to. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband Eldon and all of her many friends and family. For Eldon, she was his “magic wand”.
Wanda is survived by her four brothers and their families, Gerry (Kim), daughter Brittany of Sydney, BC; Jimmy (Vonnie), two daughters, Christa and Carly of Kamloops, BC; Rick, two sons Kevin and Brian and their families in Kelowna and Vanderhoof, BC; and Wes from Wetaskiwin, two daughters, Natasha and Stephanie, and their families from Edmonton, AB. She is also survived by Randy’s sons Alex of the Philippines and Andy of Washington State and their families. Sister-in-law Carolyn, brother-in-law David from Edmonton, AB, and son Jeff (girlfriend Gillian) from Calgary, AB. Wanda was deceased by her parents, Wilfred and Elaine; and her older brother Randy (Evette).
