Abbotsford Canucks double Manitoba Moose 4-2, set new record for regulation wins in a month

The Abbotsford Canucks continued a dandy December, improving to 8-2 for the month with a 4-2 win over the Manitoba Moose in Winnipeg on Friday (December 30).
The eight wins set a new team record for regular wins in a month.
The Moose got on the board first and scored the only goal of the first half when Tyler Boland defeated Canuck’s starting goalie Arturs Silovs 19-37. The teams had nine shots apiece in the opening frame.

The second period was all Abbotsford as Justin Dowling ended the game by overturning a point shot from defender Jett Woo after 3:42 of the first. Linus Karlsson then gave Abbotsford a 2-1 lead with a power play goal to make it 8:23, and Danila Klimovich defeated Moose goalkeeper Arvid Holm with a rocket shot from faceoff.

The Canucks dominated the middle frame and overtook Manitoba 13-7.
Manitoba came out more aggressive in the third game, but Silovs made several key saves to maintain the lead. Boland scored his second goal at 17:37 when the Moose drew Holm and suddenly it was a one-goal game. But just a minute later, Phi Di Giuseppe caught the elk trying to pull Holm too early, earning a 4-2 final.

Dowling had a two-point night and Woo, Alex Kannok Leipert, Klimovich, Dowling, Tristen Nielsen and Christian Wolanin all had three shots on goal. Wolanin once again found his way into the scoring charts, recording his leading 30th assist in the AHL. He is tied for fourth overall in the league standings.
It was the AHL debut for newly-called Nils Aman and he had two shots on target. Vasily Podkolzin and Nils Hoglander each took a point. Silovs excelled between the whistle, making 28 saves for his 11th win of the season.
The Red Hot Canucks are now 17-9-1-1 and tied for fourth in the Pacific Division.
The two teams meet again tomorrow (Saturday) at 2pm Abbotsford time. The Canucks remain on the road for games against the Calgary Wranglers on Monday (Jan. 2) and Wednesday (Jan. 4). The next home game is scheduled for Friday (6 January) when the Henderson Silver Knights travel to the Abbotsford Centre.
