Philadelphia Flyers face Jets before NHL All-Star Game break

This has been a disappointing week for the Philadelphia Flyers. The team is 0-1-2. They led in both overtime games and after falling into a 3-0 hole, they equalized before losing 5-3 on Sunday…to the Winnipeg Jets, the team the Flyers face on Saturday. Will familiarity with what the Jets throw at them give them an advantage?
This is the Flyers’ last game before the All-Star break. They will have a little over a week before playing again. The team can heal and rest while Kevin Hayes represents us in the All-Star Game. How will the Flyers react in their last game of the first half?

I said earlier that the rest of this month will show what the Flyers have. And despite being winless all week, the team showed a certain resilience that’s positive. They bounced back after an ugly first period against Winnipeg on Sunday. They took two points from overtime losses. Granted, OT dots suck, but better than no dots. But her confidence must have grown even a little bit this week. They’ve competed against playoff teams and shown they can’t be run over or lost easily.
Likewise, there is an opportunity for brewing. If you look at the teams ahead of the Flyers in the Eastern Conference, things are turning in our favor. The islanders struggle and struggle with many injuries. The Red Wings, Panthers and Capitals are barely over .500 in their last 10 games. The sabers and the penguins have also experienced some troubles lately. Those are all things that flyers can capitalize on.
They’re eight points from last playoff spot. That’s a long way to climb back, but not impossible. You can still do it, but it will take work. Rest helps a lot. A win or even a OT in today’s game is a step in the right direction.
After that, the team can take a step back and decide what they want to be. Do they want to make the playoffs and potentially increase this team’s potential next year? Or will they redeem it, sell assets and give up; Maybe give this top lottery pick a run?

When the Jets overtook the Flyers earlier this week, it wasn’t unexpected. The fact that the Jets scored three quick goals early in the game didn’t come as a surprise either, as they are a fast team worthy of their name. What was surprising was that a team sixth best in goals, a side 3-0 down, was able to come back and level the game. The Jets are 5-5 in their last 10 games and nearly let the Flyers steal one.
And after losing their last two games in Nashville and Buffalo, the Flyers have an opportunity to take on the Jets. Go after them early, don’t let them comfortably lead, and don’t take your foot off the gas. If the Flyers can steal a win against Winnipeg, it would be a great way to end the first half of the season.
