JOLLINEAU, Paulette – Obituary – Barrie

JOLINEAU, Paulette
from the parish of Springwater (Utopia), died peacefully on Monday 16th January 2023 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Center in Barrie, aged 77, following a sudden discovery and diagnosis of terminal cancer.
Born in Ottawa, Paulette moved many times as an army kid and made lasting friendships in every city. She met the love of her life, Joel Jollineau, in 1963 and married on May 2, 1964. In married life they were soon blessed with a family of four beautiful daughters, Jeanine, Margaret (deceased 2005), Charlene (Campbell). and Marilyne (Carrey).
Army women know the importance of community and so her network of friends continued to grow while she held a variety of part-time jobs, from line worker for the Essex Wire in London to drugstore manager in Blackburn Hamlet. She maintained an active volunteer status with many organizations. She was very active with the Catholic Women’s League and the Catholic Church, the National Association of Federal Retireers, Al-Anon, a crisis hotline, Helping Hands, and Camp Hill. Born on July 1st, she spent her birthdays volunteering at Barrie’s celebrations and various county fairs.
Up until her last few months, she collected all of the Canada Day swags and sported them with immense pride.
Paulette had an artistic flair and spent decades in all aspects of ceramics, her greatest hobby and passion. This gave her an opportunity to combine talent with faith and although she created many generic ceramic works, she found much pleasure in creating religious works. She and Joel maintained several reflection and prayer corners indoors and outside on their property where their larger creations can be found. She was always willing to teach those who asked about painting techniques. Paulette especially loved painting ceramic projects with children.
Paulette is the dearest daughter of the late Ephrem and Yvette Gratton. She is survived by and fondly remembered by her sister Sue (Jack Crichton).
Paulette is the proud grandmother of six grandchildren:
Sarah, Jenna, Reid, Marilyn, Shae and Ethan.
