Raanta, Hurricanes shut out Panthers for franchise-best 10th win in row

The Carolina Hurricanes won a franchise-record 10th straight game Anti Ranta 19 saves in Friday’s 4-0 win over the Florida Panthers at the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Raanta has shutouts in consecutive games, including 24 saves in Tuesday’s 3-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
“I think we took a little something from the last game against Chicago,” said Raanta. “When the game started today, you just felt like you were in it. Even if not many shots were fired in the first third (3), you could get into the game well.”
Stefan Noesen, Andrei Shchnikov and Teuvo Teravainen Each scored a power play goal for the Hurricanes (24-6-6), who extended their scoring streak to 16 games (14-0-2), the longest in the NHL this season.
Carolina, who started Friday ranked 27th in the NHL on power play (17.5 percent), went 3-on-5 with a man advantage. It finished 10th in penalty shootouts (80.7 percent), going 6-on-6.
“We really haven’t had one all year where we capitalized on the power play,” said Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour. “The penalty was good too, so special teams won the game for us. This is the game now. You have to have that click because it wins your games.
“I think we’ve been solid the whole track and, to be honest, all year. What I really liked about this track is that we didn’t have any dips in our game.”

Spencer Knight made 30 saves in his first start since Dec. 19 for the Panthers (16-17-4), who were ruled out for the first time this season and have lost four of their last five games.
“They’re playing a tough gap game,” said Florida coach Paul Maurice. “They don’t give you a lot of light ice cream, so there’s not a lot of inside play. But we tried to find her.”
