Football Finalizes 2023 Signing Class

STONY BROOK, NY – Stony Brook Football Head Coach Chuck Priore completed the Seawolves’ signing class of 2023, as announced on Wednesday. In all, Stony Brook has added 20 student-athletes to its roster, 11 of whom transferred from another institution and nine who joined the program after their high school careers.
On Wednesday, Stony Brook announced the signings of kicker Spencer Biscoe, defenseman Irvin Briggs IV, wide receiver Anthony Johnson and linebacker Shane Scott. Before the February signing period and after the early signing period, the Seawolves added four transfers: corner back Jeffrey Davis Jr., corner back Cory Gross Jr., wide receiver Rahmon Hart Jr. and wide receiver Dez Williams.
Spencer Biskoe | foosball | Landisville, Pa.
Biscoe is a 6-foot-3 kicker from Landisville, Pennsylvania. He joins Stony Brook after spending two seasons at Colgate. He played in all 22 games during his Colgate career and made 19 of his 25 field goal attempts over the two seasons. He went 14-to-19 in field goals in 2022. Biscoe also scored 36 extra point tries in his career. His longest field goal was 49 yards. He played varsity football for a year at Hempfield High School, where he also played soccer. He was a First Team All-State selection in football and led the entire state of Pennsylvania in field goals made. He’s already enrolled at Stony Brook.
Irvin Briggs IV | Defensive Lineman | Hicksville, New York
Briggs is a 6-foot-4 defender and currently attends Holy Trinity High School. Briggs is a three-year captain at Holy Trinity and played four years of high school football. He is a two-time Defensive Lineman of the Year and a two-time All-League selection, as well as a two-time league champion. Briggs has helped his team to a combined 19-1 record over the past two seasons.
Anthony Johnson | Wide Receiver | Burlington, NJ
Johnson is a 5-foot-11 wide receiver from Burlington, New Jersey. He comes to Stony Brook after spending the 2022 season at James Madison University. He played high school football in Burlington Township, where he was a 2021 First Team All-State Selection and a two-time First Team All-County honoree. He was also a four-time All-Conference member, helping Burlington Township to the 2019 South Group 3 semifinals and 2021 quarterfinals. He was a three-athlete in high school, also lettering in basketball and track and field. In class he was an honors student and he majored in kinesiology at JMU. He’s already enrolled at Stony Brook.
Shane Scott | defender | Mount Laurel, New Jersey
Scott is a 6-foot-0 linebacker from Mount Laurel, New Jersey. He comes to Stony Brook after spending five years at Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania. Scott appeared in all 44 games in four active seasons at Lock Haven with the 2020 season being cancelled. He totaled 54 tackles in 2022, including three tackles for loss, a pass breaking and a forced fumble. He was a PSAC All-Conference selection. He finished his career with 14.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and one interception. Prior to Lock Haven, Scott was a standout linebacker at Lenape High School, where he received First Team All-State Honors and won the state championship as a senior in 2017. He comes from a football family as his father Sean played football with Rutgers from 1988-92 and his brother Sean Scott Jr. currently plays in Rhode Island.
Jeffrey Davis Jr | corner back | Bristol, Conn.
Davis is a 6-foot-0 corner defender from Bristol, Connecticut. He comes to Stony Brook after the last two seasons as a member of the Penn State football team. He appeared in a game as a redshirt freshman in 2022. Davis came from Kingswood Oxford High School, where he was a letterman for four years, including one year as an eighth grader. He was the first student athlete at Kingswood Oxford to write a letter as an eighth grader. He transferred to play his senior year of high school football at Bristol Eastern High School, but the 2020 season was canceled because of the pandemic. During his junior season in high school, he totaled 32 tackles and one interception while adding 35 catches for 600 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Davis was a two-time All-League selection. He was ranked No. 4 in the state of Connecticut by 247Sports after leaving high school.
Cory Gross Jr | Defensive Back | Rochester, New York
Gross is a 6-foot-2 defender from Rochester. He comes to Stony Brook after spending the 2022 season at Tennessee State University and the previous four seasons in Buffalo. Gross appeared in six games at Tennessee State last season, totaling 16 tackles. He appeared in 31 games in three seasons with Buffalo after ending his freshman season as a redshirt in 2018. Gross finished second on the team in tackles at 68 in 2021 in Buffalo. Coming out of Brockport High School, he was a three-time All-State selection, both as a running back and defensive back. He was named District 4 Player of the Year and helped lead his team to the Section V Sectional Championship.
Rahmon Hart Jr | Wide Receiver | Pittsburgh, Pa.
Hart is a 6-foot-3 wide receiver from Pittsburgh who joins Stony Brook after spending the last three seasons at Duquesne and his first season at Ball State. He appeared in nine games for Duquesne in 2022 and totaled 13 catches for 110 yards. He entered the redshirt in 2019 as a freshman at Ball State. Hart came from Imani Christian Academy, where he finished his career with 152 catches, 3,200 receiving yards and 34 touchdowns. He was a First Team All-State selection as a senior and a two-time All-Conference honoree. The former three-star recruit captained his high school team as a senior. He comes from a football family as his cousin Ray Zellars played at Notre Dame and in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints.
Dec Williams | Wide Receiver | Waldorf, Md.
Williams is a 6-foot-2-wide receiver from Waldorf, Maryland. He comes as a transfer from Wake Forest to Stony Brook. Williams was a graduate of St. Mary’s Ryken High School and played football on both sides of the ball throughout his career. In 2020, he totaled 41 catches for 825 yards while having over 1,000 all-purpose yards. He received First Team All-WCAC honors. Williams blew up for four touchdowns in a game in high school, becoming the first player in St. Mary’s Ryken history to reach the end zone four times in a game.
