New journalism training initiative launches in the N.T.

YELLOW KNIFE, NT, February 2, 2023 /CNW/ – The Northern Journalism Training Initiative [NJTI] and journalists for human rights [JHR] are proud to announce a new partnership and program developed by and for Northerners in the USA Northwest Territorieswith support from the Google News Initiative.
NJTI is an emerging training and internship program for Northerners to develop their multimedia storytelling skills, learn about the journalism and communications industry, and gain paid work experience.
NJTI works towards a new normal where Indigenous and Northern peoples play a leading role in telling their own compelling stories, holding Northern leaders to account and a broader awareness of the Northerners’ unique and important place in the world to accomplish.
The training program is available to applicants aged 18+ who are currently residing in the NT and are able to attend the full four week in-person training session Inuvik, March 27 – April 21, 2023.
Applications are open hereand must be filled out online March 3, 2023.
