Halifax’s Discovery Center is hoping its new Dinosaurs in Motion exhibit will attract the kind of crowds that visited before the pandemic.

The exhibition brings 14 life-size dinosaur sculptures to life. The characters were designed and created by North Carolina sculptor John Payne.

The sculptures can be manipulated by visitors using levers, pulleys and remote controls. There are also a couple of motion-activated dinosaurs that spring to life with clicking jaws and interesting roars as soon as you approach them.

“This is the first time the Dinosaurs been on the move in Halifax at discovery Center. we definitely to have had other exhibitions the feature dinosaur and They are always very very popular,” said the center’s director of marketing and sales, Jennifer Punch.

Punch said she hopes the exhibition will help pull in pre-pandemic numbers as the March break nears.

Aside from the 14 dinosaurs, the center’s programming team has put together other activities for all ages to build the experience. Programs include fossil exploration, dinosaur digs, and fun dinosaur-themed crafts.

There will also be events over the next few weeks to showcase the exhibition such as the Dino Disco on February 25th which will consist of two separate discos, one early in the evening for families and one later at night for adults. “I actually took she the end from school there I thought you learned more here as in School. and one from She, the smaller one, she is Seven, you likes dinosaurs,” said Kelly Nash.

Nash took her two children from school on Wednesday to experience the Dinosaurs in Motion exhibit. She said her children would learn more from an exhibition like this than books and teachers could teach them.

“Better than books and schools. That’s why I brought her here,” Nash added.

Dinosaurs in Motion runs through April 16. The center is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets can be purchased either in person or in advance on-line.
