As news of Andrew Tate’s arrest goes viral, influencers are trying to mobilize their fanbases in his defense

Streamer Adin Ross, who has supported Tate in the past, wrote to his 1.8 million Twitter followers on Thursday: “Joe Biden, please go ahead and apologize to Andrew Tate.” The tweet drew mockery in the comments, although some users with thousands of followers also agreed with Ross’ vote.

Niko Kenn De Balinthazy, better known as Sneako, who was banned from YouTube earlier this year, went live Thursday with a stream titled “FREE ANDREW AND TRISTAN TATE” on alternative video platform Rumble. He opened up the stream, which has amassed over 225,000 views, by telling viewers to spam the comments “Free Top G” and “Free Andrew Tate.”

The YouTuber and streamer Asmongold too sparked a backlash for implying, without evidence, that “the government” was attempting to frame Tate.

Following the arrests, the Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) issued a press release saying the case involved four unnamed people – two British nationals and two Romanians – who were accused of joining a criminal group conduct.

According to Reuters, prosecutors said: “The four suspects appear to have set up an organized crime group with the aim of recruiting, harboring and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content to be viewed on specialized websites in return for payment .”

In the days leading up to the arrest, Tate got into a Twitter feud with Thunberg after he mocked her with a tweet asking for her email address so he could send information about his car emissions.

Thunberg’s reply – “Email [email protected]” – went viral and quickly became one of the most popular tweets of all time, with over 3.6 million likes and 257 million views.

A box from a Romanian pizza chain was featured in Tate’s response to Thunberg’s belittling, leading many to speculate that the pizza box prompted Romanian authorities to confirm his presence in the country and arrest him, although the viral theory has not been verified been.

Tate’s only tweet since the arrest was “Matrix sent their agents,” which was interpreted as referring to authorities.

DIICOT did not respond to Insider’s request for comment.
