Serious obituary
It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of Ernest John Muhle. He died at Moose Jaw on Providence Place on December 26, 2022 at the age of 90.
Ernest is survived by his 63-year-old beloved wife Sharon, son Martin (Chaz), grandson Kyle (Erica), daughter Susan (Norm), granddaughters Audra, Megan (Alexi), son Stephen (Shelli), grandson Dallas (Ashley), and Tucker son Allan, along with many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews
Ernest was deceased by his parents Herman and Florence Muhle and his brother Ben.
Ernest was born on January 12, 1932 to Herman and Florence Muhle. He grew up on the family farm and worked on the farm with his father and brother until he took over the farming business.
Ernest married Sharon Jean Knarr on April 17, 1959. He was almost late for his wedding and gave birth to a calf before setting off.
Ernest loved sports, fastball, baseball, hockey, soccer and curling. As a young man, while visiting his cousins in Iowa, he was offered a try for the Farm League in the major leagues, but farming was a bigger part of his life. Ernest was a player/coach for the Mortlach Jets for many years. One of his greatest joys was seeing the pride and dedication of his players and teammates in making Mortlach Jets something he was proud of. He also had the honor of coaching all three of his sons.
Ernest became an RM councilor in 1959 and, over the years, RM Reeve. While at the RM of Wheatlands he was a driving force behind the construction of grid roads. He has also been active in the community that includes the school bus board, the school board for Remount School, and the snowplow community. He was also asked to call out square dances at the time. Ernest always had opinions and commented on what was going on around him and in the world. Not everyone agreed or valued their opinion.
Ernest has lived, worked and raised a family on the farm for most of his life. He never officially retired and continued to live on the farm until his stroke in July. He was cared for at Providence Place until his death. The family would like to thank the Providence Place staff for the care they provided.
A celebration of Ernie’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on January 7, 2023 at the WJ Jones & Son Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St W, Moose Jaw, SK. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate.
Donations can be made in Ernest’s name to the Heart and Stroke Fund.
In living memory of Ernie, a memorial planting is being planted by WJ Jones & Son Ltd.
